Packaging Tips

Your photos and home movies are important to us. Our packaging tips will help you ship with confidence and get your scans transfered faster. Learn more about how to pack your photos, or pack your videos and ship them to us with confidence.

Choose a sturdy box

Combine your orders in an appropriately sized box. Select a sturdy box for your orders. A brown packing box sold at the UPS Store will help protect your photos. Avoid shipping your order in flimsy garment boxes or envelopes.

Print order documentation

Print and place a copy of your order packing slip in the box. Print three copies of your pre-addressed, pre-paid UPS shipping labels. The link to your label is in your order confirmation email. Place one label on the box, a second label inside the box, and keep the third label for your records.

Find the UPS location nearest you

Drop off your pre-labeled box at a UPS location. UPS will provide a tracking number to track your package.

Packing Your Photos

Following these instructions will also help ensure the safe transport of your photos to PhotoBin and decrease the scanning time resulting in the fastest turn-around time possible.

Prepare Your Photos

Remove all photos from albums and envelopes. Make sure no staples, paper clips, post-it notes, etc are attached.

Group all of your photos in bundles by size. Bag and mark which groups of photos you need an extra copy of or that you need on a separate disc.

Check Orientation

Photos should be submitted right side up. Photos submitted upside down will be scanned upside down. Photos submitted face down will be scanned face down.

Clear Photo Obstructions

Fan through all your photos and shuffle the pictures like a deck of playing cards to confirm that your photos are presented loosely and contain no glue or sticky materials.

Pack Photos Evenly Stacked

Photos should be as evenly stacked in the Photo Scan Kit as possible and packed so shifting will not occur during shipping.
